Since 1988 the Costa family has invested their energy and attention in making Hickory Dickory Dock and entertaining and informative place for the collector of finely crafted clocks, German handicrafts and decorative seasonal goods & gifts for all year. Now in its third location in Nyack, it bears little physical resemblance to the tiny shop from 20 years ago.

The rapid evolution from "small clock shop" to the magical destination it is today began with the decision to select goods via direct German import relationships.  We love to share the Germans' love, not only for Christmas, but traditional crafting and story-telling by offering a range Cuckoo clocks, woodcraft, pewter, blown glass ornaments, paper mache figures and beer steins from a diverse group of specialized, traditional - and often family-owned - German factories from many different regions. We also highly value our relationships with the specialized US crafters of clocks, collectible goods such as Byers' Choice Carolers, Lynn Haney Santas, as well as a selection of USA made garden goods and Majesty Bells wind chimes.  We hope our year-round displays of Halloween, Christmas (including German wood toys-!) will engage the imaginations of visitors of all ages.

We've come to realize: Things are only things unless we humans invest meaning in them by paying respectful attention to their design, creation and exchange; only then can they become meaningful symbols for communicating and commemorating the important experiences & feelings in life.

For us, this means items that are crafted with attention to design & tradition and then presented with respect for both the experience & history of its crafting, as well as for the future experience of the one to whom it will belong. Magic happens when an item finds a home in the hands and heart of someone who makes a connection by choice to the chain of human energy that a crafted item represents.
