A longtime kitchen-and-home accessory shop in Piermont has undergone a makeover...
...The revamped store, long known as The Mole Hole, remains under the ownership of Lynn Boone and management of Liz Fagan.
What is new will be both the mix of merchandise and the interior, spruced up by Piermont designer Lydia Rogers.
Boone, who also owns the Piermont environmental and gift boutique Boondocks, said it was simply time to freshen things up.
"We said 'Let's change it. Let's break it open and give it a new energy,' " Boone says.
That energy extends to the addition of a slogan: "The Saucy Kitchen & Home Store."
But Boone laughs as she says the "saucy" is simply a play on cooking-related words - "We're not racy."
The daring, she says, will be in the inventory, where basics like ramekins stand next to fashion-forward options for tabletop and gifts.
"We did try to get fresh-looking things," Boone says. She and Fagan spent plenty of time seeking platters, candelabras and vases not seen at every store or mall...
...As the new venture begins, Boone says she hopes to shake things up but not leave the past totally behind - glance over the Town & Country entrance to see the old wooden mole leading the way with staff and light.
After all, says Boone, "We had to keep the mole."
